OLTL's Kristen on Status Change
Soap Opera Digest, September 7, 2004

As previously reported, OLTL is not renewing Ilene Kristen's (Roxy) contract. Kristen, however, has decided to stay on a recurring basis - for now. "I can't let Roxy die," she explains. "I love this character, and think she has so much potential.
"Things have seemed weird for a while, so I wasn't too surprised," she sighs. "But I did my best work, so it hurts. I always thought that doing a great job was enough, but that doesn't seem to be the truth anymore. And to make it clear, I had a year-and-a-half left on my contract. They let me out at the end of a cycle."
Still, Kristen is optimistic that Roxy has more LIFE in her. "I LOVE working here," she clarifies, "and the show is good to recurring characters. I was recurring when I first came on the show [in 2001], and Roxy had her best material then."
But if a good, full-time gig comes along, "obviously, I'm going to consider it," notes Kristen, who has already filmed the movie Mattie Fresno and the Holoflux Universe with co-star Catherine Hickland (Lindsay). "I'm not a part-time actress. I wouldn't mind doing another soap. I think PASSIONS would be fun, or I'd love to work with Michelle Stafford [Phyllis] on Y&R. Meanwhile, I'm happy to keep playing Roxy and entertaining people, because there are a million ways that her story can go. But if the fans want to see Roxy, they have to be vocal."
