Ilene Kristen (Roxy, OLTL) just returned from a bonding vacation with her sister, Karen Schatz, in Sedona, Ariz. "We both needed to away - she's between jobs, and I was exhausted after lie week. We've never taken a vacation together. It was somethign I wanted to do, so I had her fly in from L.A. and meet me at the Phoenix airport. We drove up to Sedona and stayed at Los Abrigados Resort and Spa, which was lovely."
Ilene had a motive in choosing their destination. "I have a slight bit of arthritis in my neck. I don't like to go to regular medical doctors if I don't have to, and I also beleive that we can all create our own healing circle in our body. So I wanted to start working with healers and work on healing myself. Sedona is a place a lot of these people come to. I have two friends there, Toni and Larry Siegel; she's an astrologer and tarot reader and Feng Shui expert, and he's a healer. He has these hands that are smokin' hot, and he placed them on me. I also worked with a woman named JoJo, who's what they call a medical intuit." Ilene says the alternative healing made her neck feel better,"but I've still got a ways to go. I'm going to try to get some acupuncture; it came to me in my meditation that I needed it."
One of the most memorable experiences of her trip occured at a fair of Native American crafts. "We were in front of one of the booths, and they started speaking in their native tongue, and I knew they were saying: 'That's Roxy from One Life to Live.' They were so excited by my visit to their booth that they gave me this beautiful necklace with huge pieces of turquoise. The woman said, 'You have no idea how many people are sitting and stringing beads and watching the soaps, and how important it is to them.' I was really moved. I'm going to stay in touch with them. They said there's a huge crafts fair in New Mexico at the end of August, and I'm going to try to go and meet my sister there. This was just as perfect a vacation as I could have had, and my sister's a great travel companion. We're a great team."
